Hello, I am Janet M Hernandez! I'm a Bilingual (English/Spanish)) Licensed Masters Social Worker, with about 10 years of clinical experience providing mental health/social work/therapy/case management services to client populations of all ages with diverse cultural backgrounds, personal preferences, and traits. My career is not only what I do, but also an essential part of who I am. I feel proud and blessed of my Hispanic upbringing, and I equally cherish the opportunities and experiences that I've gained while living in the states. I earned my Bachelor’s in social work from Metropolitan University-Ana G Mendez in Puerto Rico and my Master’s in clinical social work from University of New England in Portland, Maine. I've worked in many different clinical settings ever since. My previous professional experiences and educational background have shaped me into a devoted mental health professional with advanced clinical skills, primarily in Holistic evidenced based approaches, trauma informed practices, psycho-social assessments/models, DSMV mental health screenings/diagnoses, Mindfulness, Client-Centered treatment goals, crisis intervention, counseling, multidisciplinary collaboration, and linkage with resources.  As a Latin bilingual practitioner, I predominantly focus on offering an unbiased, culturally competent, and compassionate practice where I can build a positive, healthy, and honest therapeutic rapport with every client I serve. I take special interest in learning, understanding, and practicing the most reliable evidenced-based approaches (e.g., MST, CBT, TF-CBT, CBT-Mindfulness, DBT, Strength Based, Psychotherapy, amongst others), which can be adapted to each client’s wants and needs. I don’t believe counseling has to be all tears and tissues. Instead, it can also be full of curiosity, enlightening, compassion, inspiration, and fun. If you decide to reach out to me, you can count on someone who is relatable, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and invested in transformation that feels genuine to you and your goals. I bring my authentic personality into the room with me, and I invite you to do the same. I hope we get to talk about the hard stuff but that we’ll also laugh and celebrate the victories, while enhancing the wisdom and power already inside you. Combining compassion, cultural awareness, and years of clinical knowledge, I feel confident I can help you re-build a fulfilling relationship with \*yourself, with others and your environment. Let’s connect and venture this messy but beautiful world together, so you can enjoy a life full of meaning and overall wellness!
