Introduction
  LaWanda Martin has been employed in Humans Services for over 20 years. She has worked in Family Advocacy Programs for the Army and Navy while earning a Master of Science from Texas A &M University in 2012, in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, She possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Public Administration from Upper Iowa University. She became fully Licensed in 2015 In the State of Florida, next in Virginia and Texas.  Since becoming licensed she has worked in many facets of mental health such as: Inpatient for Seriously Mental Illnesses/Substance Abuse, Community Behavioral Health- serving the local populations with personal growth, problem solving, behavioral issues and coordination of care, Active-Duty Military / Veterans with dealing with transitioning, trauma, relationship issues and social issues, and Law enforcement, assisting with crisis management, Trauma and coping with stress. She has worked with children from age 2 through the senor population. Through her education and experience she began using her knowledge to guide pre licensed students in getting their Professional License.  LaWanda works with people who struggle with their feelings, thoughts and behaviors. Together, they will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and build meaningful social connections.” Her theoretical orientation is Person Centered Approach and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focus Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family, reading and exploring new places.  Lawanda practices with empathy and compassion. She presents a relaxed, safe and personable atmosphere where everyone can be themselves, so that sharing can feel natural.
