Hello, I am Mike Cotayo!

I'm a licensed clinical social worker and supervisor with over 20 years of experience providing supervision to clients in need.

I earned my Bachelors in English/Creative Writing from Binghamton University and my Masters in Social Work from New York University. I've worked in many different clinical settings ever since. I am a passionate and empathetic therapist with strong counseling abilities and an understanding of interpersonal familial relationships. I have experience leading clients through body-oriented psychotherapy, anger management. I am particularly skilled at using humor in therapy to help patients go deeper in their work Through clinical experience, compassion, and empathy I support and assist those willing to make a positive difference in their lives. I pride myself in providing a safe and supportive space, to work side by side to overcome traumas, and barriers. I specialize in addressing Gestalt Therapy, anger management and utilizing humor to help navigate trauma. I am fully committed to listen and offer my best professional practices to help you.

As a trained Gestalt therapist I hold the belief that we are all a sum of our parts, and in order to heal these parts we must work with our body, mind, and soul to obtain the answers that will help facilitate change. Psychotherapy is an individualized service plan that will help a person become more aware of their actions, and how it affects the way they may interact with the world. During our first few sessions, we will be working collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that best suits your needs. We will work on the issues that you bring to the table, and together we will carve out a road map that will help lead you to a more authentic self.
