Hey, my name is Maya! ✨
I am a Registered Mental Health Intern in the state of Florida with a myriad of mental health experiences. Before I graduated from the University of Central Florida with my MS in Counselor Education, I worked with the Department of Children and Families, Orange County Public School system and shelters in the surrounding Orlando area. This exposed me to mental illnesses from common anxiety, depression and substance abuse to other ailments, such as, borderline personality disorder and oppositional defiant disorder.
My previous work has allowed me to help clients develop interpersonal and communication skills, create healthy coping strategies, and promote optimal mental health. Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and person-centered or humanistic therapy are most used in my sessions. However, other forms like internal family systems and solution-focused are used as well.
When not with clients, I enjoy relaxing with friends and family, going to the beach and attending open mics. I am proud of you for taking this first step and I hope we can take this healing journey together.
My universal goal for clients is to clear the fog of mind that stops them from seeing the strength, courage, beauty—and ultimately—answers in themselves.
