Lucon Rigaud

CMHC-LP

Hello, I'm Lucon Rigaud. I'm a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in New York State with more than two years of experience working as a counselor. I'm a polyglot, and I can speak fluently English, Creole, French, and Spanish. I currently hold a limited permit to practice (P109225). I am also a member of AMHCA (American Mental Health Association) and Chi Sigma Tau Epsilon Chapter at St. John's University. I have been working at Living waters Counseling Center for almost two years. I previously interned at the PAC Program at Queens and St. John's University.

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Grand Seminaire Notre Dame D'Haiti and both a master's degree of Divinity (M.Div.) and a master's degree in systematic theology (M.A) from the Seminary of Immaculate Conception in Huntington and a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP-accredited program at St. John's University in Queens, New York.

My approach implements integrated approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. Through clinical experience, compassion, and empathy, I support and assist those willing to make a positive difference in their lives. I pride myself on providing a safe and supportive space to work side by side to overcome traumas, barriers, and other mental issues.

I specialize in addressing various issues such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, codependency, grief, and OCD. I have also provided spiritual guidance to parishioners who struggled with interpersonal problems related to religious or spiritual issues over the past nine years. My counseling style is based on collaboratively working with clients to achieve the goals set out in therapy. I have experience leading clients through cognitive behavioral therapy and spiritual approaches to become happier and more productive citizens. I believe in treating anyone with respect, understanding, and empathy. Additionally, building rapport is essential in counseling which helps build therapeutic alliances. Each treatment plan is always individualized based on the needs of each client and issue.

I am fully committed to listening and offering my best professional practices to help clients reach their goals and discover the best version of themselves. My active listening, empathy, and pastoral care for others are compelling forces that contribute to his professionalism. Thank you for taking the first step and allowing me to participate in this vital journey.

I look forward to meeting you!
