Let me help but first I would like for you to get to know me! I believe that anyone can gain knowledge through their experience in an optimistic way in a warm, supportive, therapeutic environment. When facing challenges and struggles, you do not need to feel alone; it can be very advantageous to have someone by your side who is nonjudgmental, understanding, and compassionate. Taking the opportunity to seek out help is not a sign of weakness; it is an admirable attempt to try to live a more fulfilling life for yourself and demonstrate a great deal of strength! I can help you to discover the useful tools that lie within you in order to cope with life's troubles, enabling you to have the kind of life you would like to have.
I have provided therapy for both children and adults and can honestly say I enjoy working with all ages in various stages of life. The following are models I have worked with but not limited to. I have worked as a Functional Family Therapist-Child Welfare (FFT-CW) trained therapist that utilizes a national FFT evidence-based model to work with referred youth and family. I provide Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment (CPST) which is a goal-directed supports and solution-focused interventions intended to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the individual's recovery plan. Examples of therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
A lifelong learner best describes me :) I am a retired educator that was passionate in my work with students that had learning disabilities. I acquired the virtue of patience through that work experience and learned to never give up!
I acquired a Masters of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2001. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor registered with the Louisiana LPC Board of Examiners.
