Claire Chavarria
AMFT
Hello, I am Claire Chavarria.
I have several interests that I have incorporated into my therapy style. I believe in living by my principles, such as honesty, diligent work ethic and showing loving-kindness towards others. I am also a firm believer in making time to play. My long-time love of playing video games at arcades, on PCs and consoles started in the early 80s with my younger brother and it has carried on with my friends, my husband and several "adopted" teens over the years. I have been utilizing video games and geek fandoms to bond with others for decades and I’m excited to continue "geeking out" with clients in whatever they enjoy doing for fun.
I'm an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who has completed the 3000-hour requirement for licensing. I earned my bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in Counseling from Sacramento State University and my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University. I have experience working with at risk children, teens, adults, and elderly, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and play therapy techniques that can benefit people of all ages.
I like to visualize the therapeutic relationship with you, the client, in the driver’s seat. You know your destination. You know what you want to improve in your life. I would be like your GPS. I have experience navigating clients through grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD as well as those difficult life transitions that add so much stress to our lives. Through clinical experience, compassion, and empathy I support and assist those willing to start this journey.
I am fully committed to listen and offer my best professional resources to help you. You can rely on my empathetic and person-centered approach towards every conversation we engage in.
Thank you for taking the first step and for considering me to be part of this very important journey.
Look forward to meeting you!
