Christopher Gilbert

Hello, I’m Chris.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with four years of experience providing therapeutic services to a wide range of populations through Cognitive and Behavioral Modalities. My primary experience is with Couples, Young Adults, Children 12 and up, and the Mental Health and Intellectual Disability (MHID) population.

I earned my Bachelors of Science in Security Studies from Angelo State University in 2013 and completed my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology at Angelo State in 2019. I furthered my education by completing an advanced certificate in Behavior Analysis at Arizona State University in 2020. I have spent the last 4 years working intermittently with my license for the State of Texas in various mental health roles. I am a practical and rational thinking therapist, who focuses on communication with the world around us. I believe that we choose who we give power to in our lives by how we communicate and that when we become aware of our patterns and tendencies we can rationally evaluate them and negative outcomes can be reduced! I have experience leading couples through reunification and divorce, addiction, building tools to work on anxiety and depression, helping people learn to set healthy boundaries, and processing trauma. While we work together I will not just be your counselor, but also someone who holds you accountable to yourself and your goals. I pride myself in providing a safe space to process life in where hard things can be discussed free of discrimination. I primarily work through the modality of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, but I have also begun Gottman Coursework while I was practicing Marriage and Couples Therapy. I believe in open and honest communication and you can count on having an empathetic wholistic focus on your health while we work together.
